Welcome to the second half of Kate’s conversation with Shiny Happy Yoga founder Sarah Weyenberg! This episode can be listened to as a stand-alone episode or as a follow-up to last week’s Episode 9: Show Up and Shine. Today we dive into facing fear and how to build your bravery muscle with one small act of courage at a time.
In 2018 Sarah launched her online yoga studio, Shiny Happy Yoga, which now boasts over 90 classes and meditations. And you can now access it for an entire month for free! Say what?! Use code “livebydesign” to access a free month of Shiny Happy Yoga online studio access and then shoot Sarah a big thank you by tagging her on Instagram @shiny.happy.yoga after your practice. Let’s still our minds, tap into the joy of movement, and breathe together friends.
This week Kate and Sarah discuss how to look fear in the face and then proceed anyways (channel your inner Nike and, “Just do it!”). Whatever it might be, big or small, acknowledge the fear or hesitancy, take a deep breath, and then do the thing. And a cool thing happens when you do this over and over again. Even though the fear might remain or change over time, in facing it and taking action you build up your courage muscle and it gets a little easier or a more natural to make this same decision to be brave in the future. All of these little decisions compound over time and continue to support and encourage your future self towards bravery. How neat is that?!

This week I’m grateful for a number of things! My husband and I have decided to sell our home and move to a small town that truly feels like home, and in doing so we’re going to move a bunch of our big goals in life forward. Woohoo!
In order to show our home and keep our family safe in a pandemic world, once we received our a-symptomatic negative COVID test results we packed up the kiddos and are visiting family while the house sells. Seeing family that we haven’t interacted with in person since the pandemic started has been refreshing.
I also had great joy in watching our boys go apple picking for the first time. Dex loved it so much that if you wait til the end of this week’s episode you’ll hear him say, “We’re going apple picking!”
And a huge thank you this week to Nora from Illinois for being this week’s Joyful Corner Listener Voicemail. Nora shared how creating and connecting with community has brought her joy and support during these topsy-turvy times. Thank you for sharing so lovingly from your heart, Nora. We see your bravery and applaud your ability to find silver linings, even amid these times. Thank you!
Feeling led to share your own Joyful Corner Listener Voicemail? Awesome! Record it as a voice memo on your phone and email it to email@example.com to be featured in a future episode.
